The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum are open to the public. The Research Room is open by appointment only, which must be scheduled by 3:00pm if wishing to visit the next business day. Schedule a virtual orientation prior to booking travel. We respond to written requests for records at gwbush.library@nara.gov. Please check our website or archives.gov/coronavirus for COVID updates.

We encourage researchers to contact the Library before making a research visit. See the Plan a Research Visit page for more information.

These donated materials are available for research at the George W. Bush Presidential Library. Unlike Presidential records, donated historical materials are deposited by individuals or organizations, and are governed by deeds of gift. Although the Library has many donated historical collections, only a small number are processed and available for research.

Currently, the mandates of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) require archivists to focus almost entirely on processing official Presidential Records. Donated collections are not subject to FOIA or the Presidential Records Act, and cannot be requested by filing a FOIA request.
