Volunteers at the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum play a critical role in our mission to cultivate a better understanding of the Presidency, American history, and important issues of public policy.
From a Museum docent bringing history to life for visitors from all over the world or a Native Texas Park guide explaining Mrs. Laura Bush’s longstanding commitment to environmental conservation to an Education docent giving a presentation about the Founding Fathers to Camp43 students or an Archives volunteer digitizing a time-sensitive FOIA request, each volunteer makes a difference.
Due to the sensitive nature of Presidential materials, volunteers must be at least 16 years old, a U.S. Citizen or holder of a permanent resident card/A1 Diplomatic Visa, successfully pass a background check, and sign a confidentiality agreement. Other requirements:
- One year commitment.
- Ability to learn new skills.
- Available to work 4.5 hours per week on non-paid basis unless serving as volunteer or docent substitute.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs a plus.
- For some duties, ability to lift 50 pounds.
- For some duties, ability to stand for long periods of time and climb ladders.
